Hospitality Trends - Bucharest 2009 "The Year after Tomorrow"
Over 260 hospitality executives including investors, developers, owners, as well as operators attended Hospitality Trends Bucharest 2009, a complex event dedicated to the industry. The agenda included some of the most significant issues in the field: investing and lending alternatives, presentation of the local development opportunities, trends for 2010 as well as the emergence of hotel brands in the local market.
The overall theme of the conference "The Year after Tomorrow" focused on 3 major challenges:
- GROWTH: where and how development takes place, will business models remain the same?
- GREAT: excellence in our products and services and how to combine it with increased efficiency and higher productivity
- GREEN: the sustainability issue, not in words but in action: best practices
Among of the conclusions of the conference:
Investors regard Romania as a potentially growing market for the hospitality industry, especially by its development outside the Capital. Following the massive decrease in the number of arrivals and overnight stays at the end of the year 2008 and throughout 2009, the demand on the Romanian hotel business is expected to increase in 2010. Investors will turn their attention to the 3 and 4-star market, insufficiently covered on the Romanian market at the moment.
