Gebhard Rainer

Gebhard Rainer has more than 30 years of experience in the Hotel Industry. He has extensive international experience having lived in the Caribbean, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and the United States.
Gebhard joined Hyatt International as a Director of Finance in Saudi Arabia and from there moved to locations in Eastern Europe with responsibilities in Project Management and Asset Management in addition to senior roles in Finance.
In 1994 he was appointed Director of Finance for Europe, Africa and Middle East with responsibilities for 25 hotels and oversight responsibilities for all IT aspects of the company, including setting up Hyatt’s first Shared Services Center, in Mainz, Germany. In late 1999 he was appointed to the position of Vice President – Hotel Finance & Technology for Hyatt International Corporation, based in Chicago, with responsibilities for all international operations. He has led major projects in shared services centers, Business Intelligence solutions, as well as business process changes and change management in organizational change.
As of July 1, 2006 he has assumed the position of Managing Director / Senior Vice President – Hyatt International (Europe, Africa, Middle East) and is now in charge of the EAME subsidiary of Hyatt International for all Business and Development aspects.
As an Austrian National, he spent his middle school and high school years in Austria and graduated from Hotel Management College in Bad Hofgastein, Austria in 1978. He is married to Maria Luisa and they have two children, Sebastian and Samantha.
